Several years ago NAHSA realized our industry was coming under fire by state, local and federal government.NAHSA formed an Advocacy Committee, currently chaired by Ron Eberly of American Clay Works, to provide information, direction and if possible, solutions to our constituents and the industry. The firstaction taken by the AdvocacyCommitteewas the creation of the Weights and Measures Task Force. Working in conjunction with American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), the Task Force arrived at a comprehensive solution to this issue. Since then we have formed a Water Issues Sub-Committee, chaired by Rick Bechtel of McConkey Co. and a Government Relations Sub-Committee chaired by Rod Moesel of American Plant. The Water Issues Committee has accumulated a mountain of data on water issues affecting our industry throughout the country. The Sub-Committee has alsogathered information on the benefits of our industry,to society and much more.Updates of committee work are given at each annual meeting. In the near future, we hope to update our constituents inThe Landscape newsletter, the NAHSA Web Siteand other industry publications. TheIndustry Advocacy Committeewants to beginworking with ANLA and the Society of American Florists (SAF), to bring issues facing greenhouse growers to the fore front. We are working hard to make this a better industry for all. _______________________________________________________________________ Yellow Transportation Offers Convenience is important in an age when everything in life moves faster than you can.
